Distorted Audio |
Problem
The audio is distorted intermittently. Typically the distortion occurs ever 10 seconds and lasts for 2 seconds. High frequency content is added, so that the sound becomes metallic.
Failure Mechanism
The problem is related to the motherboard chipset (e.g. Intel S5000 server chipset), the number of active audio streams and the PCI(e) bus load. The more streams and the more bus load, the higher probability for this problem.
Solution
Please use a different motherboard with a different chipset, which does not have extended bus latency. Alternatively please install a more recent DirectShow driver (3.3.578 or greater). These drivers reduce the negative effects of any audio buffer underuns.
